Just Like a Cat

Sometimes I think that I was a cat in my past life.

Cats are very independent by nature and are thus solitary creatures. They can survive without anyone's help and they exist to please themselves. They will not do anything they do not want to do. But just like others, they also love attention and being taken care of. They are often thought of being aloof and distant, but this is only because not many understand them. Only those who truly understand them are capable of receiving the trust and love that they have to offer.

Those who know me would have to agree that I am cat stuck in a human body.

Have you ever introduced a new cat to your old cat? Chances are, they wouldn't be too comfortable with each other right away. Have you ever pet a cat who would be purring contentedly one minute, and then would try to bite you the next? Have you ever walked by when your cat suddenly hissed at you (because of redirected aggression)?

If you answered yes to any of those above scenarios, then you’re going to have to take my word for it that I am indeed just like a cat.

Shy Finn

Finn has been with us for almost a month, but I have yet to cuddle her in my arms. She allows me to scratch her chin, pet her and brush her hair...but she refuses to be carried. I could only carry her for a few seconds before she starts squirming to get down. Ah well, maybe I'm just comparing her too much to Terry (who loves sitting on the lap and being hugged). After all, not all kitties are created equal.

I guess what draws me to Finn so much is how she is like so many people...The way she lets someone get close to her, but not close enough to make her happy (or to hurt her). But I am sure that like others, she just has to learn to trust a little at a time.

Well, enough of the Psych lesson. I asked my boyfriend which cat he prefers, and he said he likes Terry better. That kind of makes me sad because I love both our cats. To me, they are both equally adorable in their own unique ways.
